In 1956, the U. S. Department of Agriculture reduces the Basic 7 Food Groups to the Basic 4 we know today, consolidating some groups and deleting the fat group.

In 1950, The "Kraft Television Theater" begins airing on network TV and it's commercials are how-to cooking demonstrations.

 

 

 

 


ciachef_logo.gif (2385 bytes)America's first serious cooking school opens in New Haven, Connecticut.  It later becomes the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) and relocates to Hyde Park, New York.


Corn Dogs are sold at the State Fair of Texas in 1945.
