Olde Time Cooking enjoys bringing you, fellow food lovers,
the following food and cooking facts and trivia. This page is really fun for me to
dig and find little known facts about one of the most important rooms in our home, the
kitchen, and share them with you. I hope you find these both interesting and fun,

In 1956, the U. S. Department of Agriculture reduces the
Basic 7 Food Groups to the Basic 4 we know today, consolidating some
groups and deleting the fat group.

In 1950, The "Kraft
Television Theater" begins airing on network TV and it's commercials are how-to
cooking demonstrations.
America's
first serious cooking school opens in New Haven, Connecticut. It later becomes the
CIA (Culinary Institute of America) and relocates to Hyde Park, New York.
Corn Dogs are sold at the State Fair of Texas
in 1945.
