Phil Silvers Show
Phil
Silvers honed his incredible comedic genius on stage appearing at top clubs as
Minskys. He then moved on to Broadway in such shows as "Yokel",
"High Button Shoes" and "Top Banana"
and on the silver screen in many films. One of my favorites is "Cover
Girl" with Gene Kelley and Rita Hayworth which shows his singing and dancing
abilities that showcased the full range of his genious.
The PHIL SILVERS SHOW aired on the CBS
network from 1955 to 1959. Phil Silvers played the part of Sgt. Bilko, a scheming sargent
always trying to make a fast buck off of his fellow enlisted men (bilking them) and
always one step ahead of the law. The faces and expressions and lively animation of Sgt.
Bilko were unforgettably funny and made the show very believable.
