BUTTERMILK PECAN PRALINES

Submitted by: Carol Adams of Conway, Arkansas

3 Cups sugar
1 Cup buttermilk
1 tsp soda
1 tsp vanilla extract....not imitation
1/3 stick real butter
2 cups pecan halves or pieces

Cook sugar, buttermilk and soda to soft ball stage.  This will darken as it cooks.   Remove from heat and add vanilla, butter and pecans.  Beat by hand until it begins to lose it's gloss.  Drop by spoon onto greased aluminum foil or wax paper.  I use butter or Pam spray.  Cool.

I don't wrap these individually because when they harden they don't stick together.  Store in container with lid.
