This group began in
1953 as four male doo-wop singers from Los Angeles. Upon signing a recording
contract with Mercury records, they added Zola Taylor as their female singer and went on
to record over 400 songs and sell over 80 million records. They got their name from
the term Disc Jockeys used when referring to records.
