Liberace

Liberace (Wladziu Valentino Liberace) was born on May 16, 1919 in West Allis, Wisconsin and passed away at his home in Palm Springs, California on February 4, 1987.

I remember catching Liberace any time I could when he was a guest on the numerous television shows at the time.  A consummate artist and probably the most famous pianist, world-wide, at the time.

(from TV show "The Liberace Show", 1953)

While I could write pages of information on him, I suggest visiting the websites below which can do much more honor to him than I ever could.

If you have the opportunity to be in Las Vegas and have a couple of hours to spend, I highly suggest a concert with Wes Winters, who plays at the Liberace Museum to an audience of about 50, maximum.  You may need to get tickets early, however, as this energetic entertainer regularly sells out.
