Liberace

Liberace (Wladziu Valentino Liberace) was born on May 16, 1919 in West Allis, Wisconsin and passed away at his home in Palm Springs, California on February 4, 1987.

I remember catching Liberace any time I could when he was a guest on the numerous television shows at the time.  A consummate artist and probably the most famous pianist, world-wide, at the time.

"Flight of the Bumblebee"
(from TV show "The Liberace Show", 1953)

While I could write pages of information on him, I suggest visiting the websites below which can do much more honor to him than I ever could.

If you have the opportunity to be in Las Vegas and have a couple of hours to spend, I highly suggest a concert with Wes Winters, who used to play at the Liberace Museum but now has a show at Planet Hollywood; you may need to get tickets early, however, as this energetic entertainer regularly sells out.
